School Accountability Report Cards (SARCs)

California public schools annually provide information about themselves to the community allowing the public to evaluate and compare schools for student achievement, environment, resources and demographics. The State of California has published this guide for more information about what a SARC is and when its required.

No Child Left Behind (NCLB)

Signed into law on January 8, 2002, The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) legislation reauthorizes the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA-1965), the federal government's largest investment in K-12 education. Title I of ESEA targets over $11 billion in financial assistance to schools educating low-income students. ESEA allocates almost another $10 billion for teacher recruitment and professional development, educational technology, after-school programs, and other purposes.
